Re: Mercury Black Max 150 XR2 Running Rough! My best guess is the high speed charge coil in the stator. It looks like it's getting fuel, but not firing above a certain RPM. A stuck float needle won't let it idle. A leaking float needle won't let it idle. A leaking float needle won't be noticed at high speed. They basically stand open at WOT anyway.#2. You will have to have the intake whether your engine is five petal or seven petal, I don't know if the fuel canister will bolt up or not but if not you can run a fuel pump in the boat with a return line to the tank (which i like better) you will have to have a 39lb regulator between the fuel rail and tank.Logged. My issue is when I am running, motor sounds/feels like its bogged down. Will only get to around 5200 rpm, according to the owners manual I found online, 6000 to 7000 is recommended wide open throttle.

First off, that is a 1985 "XR2" model. Many parts are still available from a Merc dealer. Unfortunately, the t/t pump motor (and most of the assembly) has been long discontinued. You could however, retrofit a later model design, but will likely require changing the entire unit, not simply bolting on another trim motor.
