It may actually be related to the player's name. We've seen some cases where the name is triggering some kind of filter, so it doesn't allow that player to be used. Only thing I've found to combat it is retiring coaches or characters. This creates a new save that doesn't glitch when your primary franchise file does. I was 8 seasons in, my file wouldn't load.
