It's very dangerous. Endless amounts of 28k fleets will swarm out of the l-Gates until the crisis is stopped. The system that has to be destroyed to end the crisis needs about 150k fleet power to beat. So it's actually pretty nasty. The payoff is pretty good thought.

20k Corvettes (torpedo) and 10k destroyers (neutron launcher)did it for me last time I killed him. Nearly all the destroyers died. I did this on purpose, using the dreg fleets of the 3 empires I'd vassalized and integrated. The destroyers took the brunt of the dragons fury. I was using no retreat, and a few other bonuses to fire rate.
