Magus can use a gun. (Beast Gunner can too but its not quite the same, nor quite as good imo). Arcane Cascade is quite useful giving more damage and other benefits. Conflux spells recharging your spellstrike also add more flexibility. Magus's spell slots are always going to be nukes.
