I'm replacing a the middle outlet/receptacle on a non-GFCI circuit with two receptacles and I can't for the life of me figure out why the neutral wires are swapped on the middle receptacle. It appears to be deliberate as the 12 ga wire is bent to create a criss-cross pattern. This was installed by a DIY-er so to me this would seem deliberate.The outlet can be turned on/off via the upper switch in the combo. The upper wire should be connected to the line terminal of the GFCI and the second wire should be connected to the incoming power supply. If you want to turn on/off your outlet via the lower switch, you will need to remove the two screws that hold it in place.Step 3.
