The point of activating it is just so Coachella can track who is attending the festival. It doesn't transfer ownership and the seller can still report the ticket as lost/stolen and pick up a new wristband at the festival. Coachella will not provide any support if the wristband you activated doesn't work or is reported lost/stolen.
