The problem with labeling "1911's" as being [insert adjective here] is that the 1911 is at this point a design, and not a specific handgun make+model. Only Sig Sauer makes the P226. So there's only one culprit for quality issues for the P226 design. But the 1911 design and its flaws really depends on the company making it.
