Yeah the base Opti camo is kinda useless, I’d try and upgrade it to at least level 1-2 as quickly as possible. The upgrades aren't just about making it last longer or recharge faster. They also allow you to do more things while using it. If you want the optical camo that badly, go and get it, you have to play through the first conquest mission / area to unlock it but after that you can just hop around and find it.
