Hi I have a pre 1985 MEC 600 JR that i am using to load some 1 oz loads for 12g using federal gold medal hulls. I prefer the 600 for the resize feature , working up loads, more portable to take to a range , price point and to teach new reloaders on. Often times someone upgrading these 600s can be had for a good deal. For cranking out shells in volume, I recommend the 9000. 650 is fine, just get the MEC resizer. Just me, I suggest 600 and 9000s the most.

My father had an old MEC 600 Jr. from the 70's. He had dies for a 12 gage and a 20 gage. When I received the loader, it had 20 gage dies on it. ... It could be a pre 82 or it could be a Mark 5. I load 12, 16 and 20 ga. on MEC 600 Jr. Mk5 machines. Probably in excess of 40K shells on the 12 ga. I've never experienced the malfunction you describe.
