I've put a build together, and want to know thoughts and suggestions. I get to start this character at level 6. getting lump sum gold, so 450g to build out. Ok. Ditto. Had a bow magus build for Ruby Phoenix. Went bard instead as 3 fighters, Champion, monk as rest of party. Starting to think that magus bard dedication might have been better. I dunno, I'd miss at 2 level 10 slots and 23 other slots at level 20. Rest of party ending fights so quickly, not needing to cast much, yet. Gish [Magus] Build With Fighter Multiclassing Into Wizard. Player Builds. It’s my first time playing PF2e coming right out of PF1e and I decided to remake one of my favorite 1e classes, the Magus. The goal here was to be a strength based melee build who occasionally tosses out CC and debuff spells to have some more variety and options in combat.Magus really is a class that needs some deciation, since its features are spread out. Cantrips are endless, but don't level up (except you can add sneak attack, don't know whether sneak attack is added both to weapon attack and spell). Spell combat is pretty useless without a decent amount of spells to burn.

Gish as a concept has been around since Githyanki Fighter / Mages showed up back in the AD&D days. Players have been trying to make useful ones for almost as long, and 3.X has had many ways to build them. The Magus is just the first decent (imo) "gish in a can" class. Pathfinder doesn't have a Player's Handbook.
Honestly Shocking Grasp, Intensified Spell, and Magical Lineage are so good with a Magus that not taking them is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Likewise, going STR build eliminates more options than it opens up. You're not a Power Attacking 2-H wielder, your damage is going to come from Spellstrike.

A 15-20 crit with Shocking Grasp attached is very mean, especially if you take Critical Focus eventually.
