For future reference, if anyone shoots you during a scav run, you can kill them and you'll actually get a karma boost for killing a traitor scav or PMC. The only exception is if a boss shoots you, but if that happens, you rarely live long enough to shoot back. Also, don't get fooled by the "can you help me with a Fence daily?" scam.

Also, the easiest way to tell a player scav from an NPC scav after you kill one, is when you are looting them; a player will have the POUCH slot where the secure container usually resides, while an NPC will not have that slot. Car extracts give good scav karma. Pmc/scav combo extracts give good scav karma. So you can get 3.5ish rep from those then you also get 1.1 rep from fence at level 50. After that you just need to survive around 150 times or kill a few PMCs / Traitor scavs. I try this every day and so far nobody cares.
