Release the height adjuster lever and pull the drive cover off. Pull off the belt keeper from the top of the transmission.Put on safety glasses. Turn the starter housing over to access the pulley. Work the old rope off the pulley with your fingers, or if necessary, use needle-nose pliers. Prepare a length of rope that will wind six or seven times around the pulley.
