Duramax L5P Engine Failures. I am not suggesting that there is any problem (s) with the 2017 to current L5P Durmax Engines. I am curious owning a 2021 L5P myself if anyone has had any serious issues with this engine. I would say your DIC is probably over by 1 mpg by my experiences with 23K mileson a '17 2500 LTZ. Mileage improved a little and I have never reset my 2nd mileage meter which reads 16.2 mpg for the average life of the truck with say 55% city and 35% highway and 10% towing.
