Well the ONT itself has two lights when an ethernet is plugged in; a green and orange one. Seems the green blinks every so often when it's connected to my router, orange just stays solid. I tried to find documentation about what that means but my ONT seems to be ancient (it has a Cynergy Metronet sticker on it lol); some Alcatel-Lucent O-421E-B.

I would believe blinking PON is related to the fiber optic cable itself. Either the cable on your modem or on the box is not delivering the signal properly. The tech guys may need to check that instead. Same issue, 3 times they just keep changing the router. And problem persoster a few days or weeks later.
