A check of the owners manual should point out that this is an overheat alarm and that just because the water pump is working does not mean the engine is cooling properly. A thermostat that is stuck shut will cause an overheat at idle. A bypass valve stuck shut will cause overheat at higher rpm.

Mar 26, 2019. #1. I recently bought my 1st boat. (I’m 67). A 2004 Sun Tracker 21’ Party Barge. It has a 2004 Mercury 60hp Bigfoot 2-stroke. It’s had the oil injection system removed so I mix the gas/oil 50:1. I took the boat to the local marine shop and had spark plugs, lower end oil and the water pump & seal replaced.

New tank, new fuel line to the motor, new bulb, new low pressure pump and filter before that pump, new high pressure pump and cleaned VST. The screen under the regulator is suspect IMO.

( follow the fuel lines ) I believe it has a drain, when this crappy fuel with ethanol sits and goes bad it accumulates in this reservoir. Drain the bad fuel, and pump the primer to re fill.Unscrew or pop it up. He will see the fitting in fuel tank with a rubber hose clamp to it. Inside of the 90-degree elbow is a check ball and these sometimes get clogged. Remove and clean or replace check ball. The ECU directly & soley controls the IAC, the signal that it sends the IAC is dependant on input from 6 other sensors (CPS, TPS, ECT, MAT, MAP and oil pressure).
