Mar 6, 2011. #1. I just noticed i have not seen a performance thread. I will start by listing my performance mods and see if anyone follows. Currently i have a full manifolds back custom dual 2" exhaust to a single 3" converter then into a 3" borla muffler with 3" tail pipe in stock location. Installed an open element filter onto MAF sensor.There are lots of options for carbs and distributors for the 302s. And plenty of upgrades for this engine. The 302 fits Ranger engine bays because its only 19" wide, its not quite a drop in, you do need motor mounts and to use a remote mount oil filter. C3 - The Ford C3 is a light duty 3-speed automatic transmission that was available in the 1983-1984 2WD Ford Ranger. This transmission was replaced by the A4LD in 1985. The C3 is a weak transmission that was only intended for light duty 4-cylinder applications, and small V6's. Because of it's light duty, it was not used in 4×4 applications.

Ford used a 90-degree oil filter adapter (PN F4UE-6884-BA) on some installations, such as the Police Interceptors and some vans. It is tapped and threaded for the metric modular oil filter. Ford Performance sells the same adapter (PN M-6880-M22), only the FPP unit accepts a standard FL1-A or 3/4-16 threaded filter.
