2017 Ford Escape S Shudder. Hey everyone. I have noticed that my ford escape will sometimes shudder when driving around town in stop and go traffic. I believe it’s in second gear. It goes away relatively quick and have no issues on the highway. I asked the dealer about it when I brought it in for the bushing recall and she advised it was normal.

The transmission started making a clunking noise (kind of shakes when you put into drive) when I was driving at 50 km in town and was slowing down. Thought I should post to help others on this board. I have a 2013 titanium 2.0L ecoboost with 95k miles on it and had the same issue. It used to shudder/vibrate/rattle annoyingly at around 1800-2000 rpm at around 35-40 mph while going up a hill with light accelerator pressure. I own a 05 Escape and had the same problem. At least one of your cylinders has a faulty fuel injector and ignition coil, mine had two. It gets really expensive if you find out the damage was caused by the engine's computer which can send out faulty signals and damage the coils and injectors which is what happened to me.The transmission fluid in the Escape should be changed every 30,000 miles.
