This tub spout is only designed for a slip-on connection to a 1/2" smooth copper pipe with the set screw as seen on page 5 module 2 C-1 of the maintenance and installation manual (link below). The o-ring inside the tub spout will provide a proper seal.It's clear that the tub spout adapters are soldered on, there are no set screws. I've reviewed the existing posts about these adapters on the subreddit and it's clear they can be a pain to remove when soldered on.
